These posts generally achieve higher than average engagement rates. <em>Like to win<\/em>, <em>last comment wins<\/em>, or<em>share to win<\/em> are all very successful in driving reach and engagement for brands, albeit in a bit of a spammy, generic way. So its no surprise when we look at the top 10 highest engaged posts in the Australian retail industry that we find no less than 6 competitions or giveaways where the mechanism to enter is like, comment or share. Our monthly top 10 list is compiled from literally thousands of posts across these brands so the top 10 appearing here represent the cream of the crop in terms of their engagement rate.<\/p>\n<p>So what exactly did Crumpler do to secure not only 1 but 2 of the top 10 spots? See for yourself\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Engagement rate: 13.19%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FCrumplerHQ%2Fphotos%2Fa.349056425185582.83451.265653783525847%2F677380862353135%2F%3Ftype%3D3&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"665\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Crumpler\u2019s tone of voice is immediately disruptive, no doubt about it. Specifically there\u2019s 3 great components working here:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>The post copy<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cRead our crap blog\u201d \u2013 four little words that are almost the antithesis of how to build your brand 101. Crumpler\u2019s self-degrading tone is totally refreshing and equally intriguing. (Trust me, click the link, you won\u2019t regret it!)<\/li>\n<li><strong>The image<\/strong> \u2013 an incredibly bewildering picture of an old man chilling on a bed with the space around him chockers with bicycles suspended from the ceiling. Indeed an image that you\u2019ve likely never seen before. Good luck finding that one on Shutterstock.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The blog title \u2018Salmon Mousse\u2019<\/strong> \u2013 a quick Google of \u2018Salmon Mousse\u2019 reveals wall-to-wall recipes for everyone\u2019s favourite party appetiser. As an aside, we prefer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nigella.com\/recipes\/view\/smoked-salmon-mousse-1048\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nigella\u2019s rendition<\/a>. What does this have to do with Crumpler\u2019s bags? Not sure, but hey its original.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Engagement rate: 21.81%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FCrumplerHQ%2Fphotos%2Fa.349056425185582.83451.265653783525847%2F691481957609692%2F%3Ftype%3D3&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"704\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Here they go again, this time an image of the Iranian Army with a suitably Crumpler-esque description. Name another Australian retail brand posting content about the Iranian Army?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel, Create, Carry<\/strong> are the categories of Crumpler\u2019s Salmon Mousse blog. But unlike most brands, Crumpler stretch these themes far into territory that most retail brands won\u2019t go. But that\u2019s why they stand out and why these posts on Facebook have such high levels of engagement. In both of these blog posts, the product is not mentioned once but Crumpler have successfully raised their engagement rates to industry-leading levels twice in a month through great Facebook posts derivative of these blog posts.<\/p>\n<p>I think that\u2019s a great win for Crumpler. The success of these posts gives the brand a strong platform for developing more and more great content. What do you think about these posts?
